Peer review policy (double blind peer review)

  1. This policy applies to peer review and acceptance of manuscript.
  2. Re-registration shall be required for any manuscript that fails to comply with manuscript submission guidelines of KJCCM.
  3. The editor in chief appoints editors who will then appoint reviewers.
  4. Submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by at least two or more reviewers.
  5. The author’s name and affiliation is not disclosed during review process to reviewers.
  6. The names of reviewers will not be revealed to anyone.
  7. Results will be submitted to author only.
  8. Peer review results are classified into one of four categories: 'Accept', 'Minor revision', 'Major revision,' and 'Reject'
① Manuscript ‘Accept’ will be published without revision.
② Manuscript ‘Minor revision’ will be reviewed by editor after revision.
③ Manuscript ‘Major revision’ will be accompanied by reviewer comments on what specific revision should be made or how the manuscript can be strengthened. Author should request re-review of the revised manuscript.
④ Manuscript ‘Reject’ should be accompanied by the detailed comments for rejection.
  9. If authors do not agree with reviewer’s comments, they should summarize their responses and send it to the corresponding reviewer.
  10. When two reviewers' opinions of manuscripts are divided into acceptance and decline, a decision will be made based on the opinion of a third reviewer. When the third reviewer's opinion is not certain, the editorial board will review the manuscript and decide.
  11. The editorial board will not accept a manuscript that does not comply with the requirements for preparation and submission of manuscripts, regardless of review results.
  12. Usually reviewers end their reviews within four weeks. If the reviewer is not able to complete review in time, he or she should inform the KJCCM editorial office or editor, so that the editor can arrange another reviewer. When an urgent review is required, the review will be completed within one week.
  13. During peer review process, followings are required to reviewers: reviewers’ opinion should be objective; reviewers should have no conflict of interest with respect to the research, the authors and/or the research funders; reviewers should point out relevant published work which is not yet cited; reviewed article should be treated confidentially.
  14. The editors have the right to replace a reviewer if he or she fails to meet the 4 week timeline without a reasonable reason.
  15. The manuscript review process should be finished the second review. If further revision is requested, the Editorial Board may consider it.
  16. The author’s revisions should be completed within 30 days after the request. If it is not received by the due date, the Editorial Board will not consider it for publication again.
  17. If the author is a non-native speaker, he or she should get English proofreading by a native speaker and the certificate of the English proofreading should be added at the end of manuscript.
  18. Statistical Review: If there are any complicated statistical analyses in the manuscript, it may be reviewed by statistical editor.
  19. Manuscript Editing: The finally accepted manuscript will be reviewed by manuscript editor for the consistency of the format and the completeness of references. The manuscript may be revised according to the opinion of the manuscript editor.
